Momofuku Noodle bar

On a global scale Momofuku is one of the most recognisable names when it comes to ramen, from locations in New York to Tokyo Momofuku is a recognisable name worldwide. That being said the Toronto location lives up to its name hands down. The menu is simple yet diverse enough to draw any demographic in, 3 different types of ramen with pork, chicken and vegetarian. As well as various kimchi and bun options that expand the pallet without deflating the wallet. One downside being the inability to substitute any ingredients in the dishes that could turn people off to certain dishes. For the popularity of the restaurant the wait time was minimal at 20 minutes although the restaurant was packed, food came very promptly without error, servers were also very accommodating and polite.

When it comes to the piece de resistance the food was delicious, I began with pork buns that were just perfect. The break was light and fluffy, garnished with greens to go along with the tanginess of the Japanese inspired barbecue sauce and it was topped with two pieces of pork that just melted in your mouth. Next was the main dish, the ramen was served perfectly, absolutely steaming hot and full of delicious fresh ingredients. The broth was flavourful and strong, not too salty or watery, exactly what you look for, a broth that will be gone by the end of the bowl no matter what. It came topped with the same wonderful pork, a perfectly cooked egg, miso paste, scallops and chives that brought the entire bowl together. When it comes to ramen outside of Japan its hard to find ramen quite as good as this. The only downsides being the consistency of the noodles, which were a little bit chewy as well as the imagination of the broth, it lacked the creativity of a broader menu. Overall Momofuku does ramen proud and for its price point is definitely worth the try.
